About Antony

Antony’s journey as an artist is deeply rooted in a lifelong fascination with the unseen connections that bind us and the world around us. With an MA in Contemporary Art & Theory from Winchester School of Art, Antony’s work blends digital manipulation with photography, creating a unique practice that questions the very nature of perception.

Artistic Philosophy

Self Portrait

At the core of Antony’s work is the belief that while we may perceive the world as separate objects — a table, a chair, a window — there is an underlying interconnectivity that often goes unnoticed. He seeks to challenge this perception through his art, evoking a sense of wonder and contemplation about the fluid relationship between subject and object.

Origins and Inspirations

Antony’s curiosity about consciousness and identity began in childhood with a simple question to his father: “Why am I me and not Paul?” This early sense of wonder grew into a deeper exploration, enriched by experiences with LSD, Buddhist philosophy, and Jungian psychology. These influences shaped his awareness of the interconnectedness of life, which later became central to his artistic vision.

“The initial photograph is like a sketch. The laptop is the studio.”

Why Photography?

While photography traditionally captures discrete objects, Antony uses the medium to delve beyond the surface. By digitally manipulating his photographs, he bridges the gap between the visible and the invisible. He values photography’s immediacy but embraces its capacity for open-ended interpretation.

The Artistic Journey

Antony’s creative evolution spans from abstract expressionism to fractal software and finally to digital photography. Influenced by the work of Jackson Pollock and Benoit Mandelbrot’s concept of “self-similarity,” Antony’s images reflect a fascination with repeating patterns, both in nature and within human perception.

Process and Approach

Antony’s process is intuitive rather than strictly logical. The camera captures a moment, but the laptop becomes the studio where the true work unfolds. His art deconstructs objects and experiences, offering viewers a glimpse into a reality that transcends the boundaries of time and space.
