Hairdryer Capsules

Surreal or Obscure

Surreal or Obscure questions the boundary between the strange and the simply unfamiliar. In this portfolio, Antony turns his attention towards objects, surfaces, and fragments of the everyday: soap, tiled floors, hairdryer capsules, fallen leaves, and other overlooked details from both domestic and natural environments. Removed from their usual context, these things begin to feel odd, dreamlike, or difficult to place. Yet the work asks whether they are truly surreal, or whether they only appear so because we have not looked closely enough. In breaking the world down, Antony reveals how easily the ordinary can become mysterious.
